DIY Stair Lifts?
Can Anyone Install a Stair Lift?
Considering adding a Stair lift to your home is not an easy decision. Sometimes looking on Facebook Marketplace, Craigs List, or asking around the neighborhood of Rochester, NY ,all seem like cost effective options.
As with anything, doing things yourself comes with it's own risk. Not having your stairlift removed or re-installed by a professional can be dangerous. Here are some things to consider from our educated staff at Access Lifts and Ramps:
Safety - The Stair Lift could come off of the stairway at a bad time, further injuring the user. Did the old owner care for it as reccommended? Are all of the pieces needed included to make it operate correctly?
Service - There are not many companies that will service a stairlift that has been installed by the home owner or a relative. Liabilities run high when companies attempt to repair stair lifts that are not cared for, or installed professionally.
Warranty - Used units that are purchased from a regular home do not come with a warranty. This makes it hard to learn how long the chair will last in your home, or if making the purchase will prove worth it when doing it in this alternative way. In fact, installing your own unit, can often void any remaining factory warranty on the unit.
