When traveling with an accessibility challenge, your destination prospects can be limited due to the needs you have to get around the city with ease. Taking a trip to the Finger Lakes & Ithaca will change your mind about being worried during travel, and make you wish that many other travel destinations would take their lead. Ithaca's forward thinking accessibility can lead to a fun weekend in the area.
Here is a list of places we recommend to visit while there:
Dining
Sitting on a Small Farm Outside of Ithaca, Ithaca Beer Co. is a great place for dining or beer tasting while in the area. There are a multitude of accessible parking spots, accessible parking, and plenty of room indoor and outdoor for dining. Founded in 1998, the family run operation houses a taproom and a farm to table restaurant to satisfy your food and drink needs.
Nature Trails
Let's talk about Taughannock Fall State Park. The Waterfall hidden with the state park is one of the natural attractions of the Northeast. The Gorge and Rim trails are, luckily for those with accessibility concerns, are packed dirt trails. This makes travel by wheel easy, and you can easily ride through to see the spectacular views from above and below.
Accommodations
The Hotel Ithaca is fully accessible. This Hotel is located downtown, making it easy to travel to restaurants and shops in the downtown area during your visit. You could take advantage of the Museum of the Earth, the Sciencenter, and the Culinary tours that Ithaca Tours.

Other Activities
One cannot leave the area without experiencing the Corning Museum of Glass! Located about an hour west of Ithaca, the museum offers a make your own glass experience, an amphitheater, and a glass art exhibition.
